  1. It looks similar (but different) to Japantown here in San Francisco.
    Thanks Pat,

  2. Is that a house, below the bricked embankment? I'm trying to imagine, whether runoff, or falling debris, could pose a danger. Sorry, that's just the way my brain works.

  3. Nice, nice, nice! I'd like to link your blog into the sidebar of my Tapirgal's Daily Photo. Don't worry that some days you don't use photos. It's fine.

  5. Ms A. and Robyn - It's actually an outbuilding of a major temple up in the hills above Kyoto. It's about 400 years old. Above the wall is a bamboo forest.

  8. Are you in Japan?
And still not allowed to eat seaweed or fish?
    Damn!
Neet to meet you in blogworld Pat. I think I need to add a list of links to non-West Australians to my blog at some stage.

  10. I was going to say the same thing as Robin - looks similar to Japan town in SF. I sure it is even cooler though. Great shots.

  19. i really like this "batch," particularly the first one.... i was GONNA say, you can just use your imagination for the surroundings, but then you had to go and ruin it and say there was a bamboo forest jungle thing above it.... oh whatever, i'm just going to rewind and pretend i didn't see that and use my imagination for all of the surroundings.... i bet there's like a skate park right next to the building, huh? i'm so right. right underneath the bamboo jungle....

  20. oh and you should TOTALLY make a shutterfly or snapfish book (for fun and see how it turns out) and set it out.... like ASBLACKASOBAMA says... it'd make a good coffee table book.... that can be your "giveaway".... but put a copy of it in the formal living room. oh, and one for my living room too please. i will keep it up high enough so that lewie will not DESTROY it!
